~ A Historic Moment ~

December 9, 2007

: Wow, it's been awhile since I last updated the site! I haven't really done anything new to be honest. I had forgotten to upload some pictures for some new links, so I made sure to add those. I also added that new picture you see to the right, but it's actually pretty old (these days I've only had time to do sketches here and there). The cruel echo that curses many a personal website has now wandered its vicious path into Cinnamon Square, resounding like a hollow monster from every corner. That echo, of course, being the site owner's lament: "I've been really busy lately". (echo echo echo) Hey now that I think about it, that's a sort of historic landmark for Cinnamon Square! Best to mark our calendars.. :D

To explain the recent inactivity, my programming work has finally started kicking into gear, I've been holiday shopping/wrapping/labeling with/for my family/friends, I've been taking care of a good deal of personal paperwork and handling various other effects, and as a result of these and other things I've just been tired and enjoying my free time. One interesting thing to note besides the hubbub is that my internship with Antarctic Press will be starting this week! I'm really excited to help the company in whatever ways possible, but I'm especially eager to learn what I can from all the people who work there. They seem pretty down to earth, so I'm hoping that it'll not only be good work but also a good deal of fun.

I've also come to two conclusions as of late: number one is that I should start making a webcomic. What better way to share my work with the world than on the internet through a webcomic? Unfortunately, that revelation leads us to number two: the relative remoteness of Cinnamon Square. At the moment we aren't a glamorous crossroads city at the center of the worlds trails, but rather more akin to a quaint village at the countryside's corner. It's really nice to be quaint, but maybe I should be aiming for a Venice sort of quaint. Romantic and full of a heartwarming spirit, while at the same time attracting people from all over the world. That means I'm gonna have to roll up my marketing sleeves and see what I can do to get the Square more exposure. I've got a lot to learn these days! But it's all a part of the path to follow my dreams, so I'm gonna keep pushing ahead and see where things go.

Expect to see more... eventually. Sooner than later. So later gators! Happy holidays as well XD

~A Change of Pace~

October 25, 2007

: Can you see it? Change is afoot! Everywhere you look the leaves are changing colors, the wind is blowing briskly, and the sky is sliding into a deeper shade of blue... Autumn is here at last!

Some things here at Cinnamon Square have also changed. It's been in construction for awhile now, but "The Cinnamon Square Pizza Arcade!", has finally been completed! It should be a ton of fun for everyone, or at least I hope so, basically it's a forum for people to get together and chat, eat pizza, play games, etc. It's themed around the idea of a classic pizza arcade, and will serve as a hangout for all the people who visit Cinnamon Square. Or, at least it will be once we get some cool regulars... Hyuk hyuk, it kinda feels like I'm starting a restaurant, which in a way I kinda am! :P

I've also made some aesthetic changes to the layout for the site, removing the orange bars from the right side of the screen and changing the visual content a bit. I also have some gift art from a good buddy of mine, King Joe, who colored up a picture I drew a while back with his mad Photoshopping skillz! Thanks a lot KJ! In addition to all this, I've also put up some links for some new webcomics I've been reading recently, so check those out too!

So okay everybody, check out the new art and the new forums and all the new stuff! Change is at hand! ...Or wait, wasn't it a foot? Ah well, a foot in hand is worth two in the bush... bwa hwa ha! Oh yes, and happpyyyy halloweeeennnn.... XP

~A New Direction!~

10-14-2007

: It seems like it's pretty much a done deal: I've decided not to work for Tokyopop making a manga series. At least, not for now. It's my decision and by golly it feels right! They asked me to sacrifice a little more dignity than I was willing to, and they weren't exactly professional about hiring me (making me wait for four months? ...well I hope they can wait a year for me :P). In any case I think all-in-all things will still turn out okay. I'm gonna follow my dreams with my head held high, and though this path will be a lot more roundabout, at least I won't have to compromise what's important. And hey, who says I still can't have fun on the way right? I'm gonna accept these things and move on!

At the end of this month I'll be starting work as a programmer (boooo :O) oh well, at least I'll be making some really good money. I can finally buy all the manga I've been eyeing this past year but couldn't afford, woohoo! And maybe, just maybe I might get myself an apartment too, though my family kinda seems to need me right now. We'll see what happens, ha ha. Oh, and I might start work on the side as an intern for Antarctic Press, they're a manga publishing company located right here in my hometown! That would open up my options just a bit more, and give me a really good experience too. Like I said, we'll see what happens!

Oh yeah, and I've uploaded some new art (and some old art) into the art gallery, so check it out!

~A Celebration of Cinnamon and Cocoa~

09-16-2007

: Hi everybody! My name is Jerry D. Garcia. Welcome to Cinnamon Square, my first ever real personal website up on the web! I say that because in the past I've made lots of other web pages, but found it to be way too much work to manage all the art and code that went into the sites. At the moment I'm waiting to hear back from a publisher about my work, so in the meantime I've finally hunkered down and tailored a site that's easy to manage and update, for your viewing pleasure!

Everything you see here is a product of my wacky imagination. I like drawing and coming up with stories all the time, but the most satisfying part of the work is to see the sincere smiles on people's faces when they're enjoying my lame jokes or silly comics. There's nothing like it! So to spread that around I've decided to make a website to house my works and to share them with the world. In a more practical sense it also serves as a sort of portfolio in case anyone's interested in hiring me or offering me a publishing deal. I hope that everyone can come here and have fun, and that my work can bring lots of people smiles.

So I wish you all a very warm welcome! Sit on down, have some cocoa and cinnamon rolls, and join us as we enjoy the starshine.
